Ruby’s Building Fund Grows When You Donate to Community Thrift

Do you have clothing, records, books, household equipment, furniture, jewelry, pottery or other items taking up space at home? Consider donating gently used items to Community Thrift, and help our studio earn money at the same time!

 

IT’S A WIN-WIN

Community Thrift is a not-for-profit thrift store that accepts a wide range of items and shares a portion of income from items sold with a select group of not-for-profit organizations in San Francisco. Your donations can earn money every quarter for Ruby’s – and you can receive a tax deduction at the same time.

 

COMMUNITY THRIFT IS NEARBY – AND HAS PARKING

Community Thrift is located at 623 Valencia Street between 17th and 18th. The loading dock (on Sycamore between Valencia and Mission – enter from Mission) is open daily from 10 am – 5 pm. They accept almost everything (except bedding, fabric or table linens) that is clean and ready to sell. HOW TO DONATE

It’s easy! Bring your items to the loading area. Let the staff know that your donation should be credited to Ruby’s Clay Studio.

We are code #177. 

 

To get a receipt for the fair market value of your donations, make a list of the items with what you think Community Thrift can charge for each item. Bring a copy of the list when you drop off your items and ask for a receipt that you can use when itemizing your annual income tax return. That’s it!

 

HOW THIS HELPS RUBY’S

Every quarter, Community Thrift totals sales made from donated items that are credited to Ruby’s code #177. The store deducts a fee from gross income for its operating expenses and sends a check to us – but only if there is about $200 in sales each month from items brought in on behalf of Ruby’s.  It is up to all of us – and our friends – to choose Community Thrift as the place for things we no longer need. And, it is a great place to look for bargains.
